Aldridge Conservative & Unionist Club

We're proud to offer our members a safe and friendly environment in which old friendships can be maintained and new ones forged.

About the club

Aldridge Conservative & Unionist Club was founded 18th January 1895 by the Rector of Aldridge, the Reverend Roberts.

Originally based in Dr Cooke's surgery in the High Street, the club moved to Rookery Lane in September 1896. That month saw the club voting to serve alcoholic drinks leading to the founding Reverend resigning in protest.

In 1908 the club moved to the corner of Rookery Lane and Portland Road where the library now stands. In the 1920s, the committee decided to build a permanent club on the adjoining land that it had earlier purchased for a bowling green. On 24th January 1929, the club moved to its current location of 62 Portland Road, Aldridge.

The club offers a convivial atmosphere and membership benefits that include the free use of the Churchill Room for members' functions, a free bowling green for casual use, and regular free Saturday night entertainment.

The club has an excellent snooker room that houses four professionally maintained snooker tables.

The club no longer hosts club bowling, but welcome casual or practice bowlers free of charge. The lawn may also be used by members for relaxation, and families with children are welcome to run around the lawn on Saturdays between 12 noon and 6pm.
